RobertNeath Posted November 12, 2012 Report Share Posted November 12, 2012 That is kinda true John, Some ships do dock on the "port side" but also the starboard side too, I think it's a nautical term for left and right. Even some pilots call the wings port and starboard.....I think. As for tying up with only one side of ropes, in vsf the ship drifts towards the dock on her own, and sadly doesn't stay still. Deutschmark Posted November 12, 2012 Report Share Posted November 12, 2012 I know about the planes and that is why I said that as most jet liners only have doors on the port side wing side of the plane and I thought it would more then likely be the same for ships where they use the same words for right and left sides. Now you can moored the boat/ship online with the needed (port or starboard) ropes. This works for me. You'll have to decrease the wind.
